If you want to reach every person in the audience, it’s not about being bigger, it’s about going deeper.

Sanford Meisner (1905 - 1997)

Why Study Meisner?

To build a successful career in the arts, a solid foundational technique is essential. For actors, mastering this foundation is crucial, and Sanford Meisner’s step-by-step program has been crafted to do just that. Over many decades, Meisner developed an approach that instils fundamental skills and techniques in actors, preparing them to excel in any role.

This comprehensive two-year training program transforms you into a proficient and confident actor. The first year focuses on the fundamentals of acting: developing a truthful acting instrument, opening up your emotional life, and expanding your imagination. The second year advances these skills, by teaching you how to adeptly read and interpret scripts, break them down, and create compelling characters.

Use Your Imagination

Unlike many actors who simply wait for cues and recite lines, the Meisner technique trains you to act from genuine impulses and respond truthfully under imaginary circumstances. This approach leads to performances that are not only authentic but also riveting.

Who Is This Training For?

The Taipei Meisner Training is designed for those who are serious about pursuing acting on a professional level – not as a mere hobby. Our program is rigorous and demands commitment. You will be trained by top international teachers who have a thorough understanding on the craft and art of acting, and teachers who hold intimate knowledge of the Taiwanese theater and film industry. The training prepares you for the many demands of the acting profession, and ensures you of meeting high artistic standards.

If you are passionate about acting and are committed to honing your craft to create rich, organic, and experiential performances, our studio is ready to guide you toward becoming the best actor you can be—a distinguished and unique artist in the field.

Executive Director, Head of Acting

Martijn Hullegie

The main responsibility of any actor is to deliver a truthful performance while also displaying colorful and vivid behavior that is fascinating and compelling to an audience. I strongly believe that this can only happen when an actor works organically, drawing from genuine experiences. To tap into this vital resource, they must learn to “get out of their head” and be vulnerable so that the action comes out spontaneously. As the process progresses, the layers of the character will filter the actor’s behavior. The ability to deliver an open and honest performance on command, time and again, is a vital skill that can be learned, trained, and perfected. This is what the Meisner technique is all about.

I am dedicated to training students to master these skills and become the best actors they can be. This is only possible with students who value the craft of acting, embrace the work ethic, have self-discipline, understand the importance of body and voice work, and possess a desire to explore their own humanity in all its colorful aspects.

Those who dedicate themselves to the training will create a solid foundation in the fundamentals of acting and the principles of the Meisner Technique. This foundation will endure and support them for the rest of their professional lives. If you intend to work at a professional level as an actor, director, or writer, we are very interested in meeting you and cordially invite you to contact us.
