Martijn devotes himself to train students to master these skills and become the best actors they can be. This will only happen when an actor works organically, from genuine experiences. In his teaching Martijn creates a safe space where actors “get out of their head” and be vulnerable which enables them to act spontaneously.
Martijn Hullegie (Netherlands Film Academy, 1995) is creator/director of several commercially successful television shows and his short films have won various prizes at international film festivals.
Searching for a more profound way to explore characters and motives as a director, Martijn enrolled in a three-year Meisner program to study the craft of acting himself. He trained and studied for almost a decade under the mentorship of Paul Dekker in the Netherlands, who brought the acting technique from New York to Europe in 1994. Paul himself was trained by the legendary New York-based Bill Esper. Esper worked closely with Sanford Meisner for 17 years before opening his own acting Studio in New York.
