As a fully trained Meisner actor, Dean passionately believes in the power of the technique to create more natural and truthful performances and has dedicating himself to helping other talented and ambitious actors to find their voice.
Dean studied acting at the Taipei National University of the Arts as a master degree and owns over 20 years of teaching acting in both Taiwan and China.
During his university curriculum and several acting workshops he attended in both Taiwan and China, he came to a profound insight that has sharpen his view on acting and collaborating on stage. He noticed that most students are encouraged to deliver a performance that matches the expectation of the teacher, instead of spontaneously creating a new performance born out of their own creativity and experiences. This causes many students to merely imitate the desired end result instead of recreating the natural process that leads to a new performance. This method of imitating instead of building results discourages actors from truly listening to their scene partners, often acting on their own instead, without connecting, communicating or responding truthfully to the situation.
