Alpha Hsu explains how the first year of Meisner acting class works:
“We take action in an imaginary situation, and these actions naturally express emotions rather than us acting out an emotion. This is a very important training for me because I couldn’t learn this in other acting classes, where I would try to fake some emotions.
But here, we don’t do that at all, and the emotions can be very full.
Every student has experienced extremely intense emotions, whether it’s rage or extreme excitement and happiness.
So, the phrase ‘Acting is Doing’ is fully demonstrated in the entire Meisner training.”
